A Reunion We All Needed: FRIENDS nostalgia
This was the perfect time for us to reconnect with our favorite characters after 17 years.
With the pandemic still raging on in India, I am still waiting to reconnect with my friends and get things back to normal, may it be those oily fries we munched on or the cups of coffee we drank in the college cafeteria. The last one and a half years have not been easy, things not only seem far from normal but also feel cold and scary. So in the middle of all this, we needed something familiar and comforting like ‘Friends: The Reunion’.
What I loved the most about this show was, how realistic the reunion felt, the awkward greetings, talking about how things have been. I am kind of expecting it to be the same when I get back to college and catch up with my friends.
Let me get back to the topic at hand, the Friends Reunion is a walk down memory lane with the cast of the show, for all the fans. I will be honest, I am kind of relieved that the creators of the show did not unravel the beautiful ending the series(Friends) had. This does not mean that the reunion was perfect, in some areas it kind of felt like watching an episode of a Late-night show. Okay! I get it, I am difficult to please. But frankly let me say this, it was truly a pleasure to see all the different actors who played the characters we came to love, this includes you Mr. Heckles.
Something that always surprises me about the ‘FRIENDS’ is, how a show made so long ago still manages to capture the audience and stay relevant. My best guess, its because when you strip away the jokes, the songs and the plots you are left with only one thing, the friendship that six imperfect people share. No matter how much the world has changed in the last 17 years, friendship still stands relevant and is important to us humans. So my suggestion to everyone who has seen the series, go check out ‘Friends: The Reunion’. I get that it’s not perfect, but things like this can never be as good as they are in our heads.
